JÁCHYMOV – gateway to the Ore Mountains

Merchant House No. 139 was a representative burgher building serving commercial and storage purposes. Although the building itself was demolished, its exceptionally valuable Renaissance portal from 1541 was preserved and is now installed on House No. 145.

Patrician House No. 140, known as the “Slavic House”, was one of the prominent burgher buildings of the historic town centre. The Renaissance structure dating from the 1540s was later given a Baroque façade and underwent further alterations before being demolished in the first half of the 1980s.

The Renaissance house No. 131 is among the oldest preserved buildings in the town and is associated with the oldest pharmacy in the territory of today’s Czech Republic. The early sixteenth-century structure underwent numerous architectural changes yet retains remarkable historic and architectural value.
