MAGNUS HUNDT (1449–1519)

Physician, philosopher and theologian of the late fifteenth and early sixteenth centuries. In the early years of Jáchymov he served as the town physician and personal doctor of the Schlik family. In the history of science he is regarded, together with Otto Casmann, as one of the founders of modern anthropology.
JOHANN NEEFE (1499–1574)

Physician and Renaissance humanist who served for about ten years as the town doctor of Jáchymov. Later he became court physician to the Saxon electors and also treated Emperor Ferdinand I.
LAZAR ERCKER OF SCHRECKENFELS (1528/1530–1594)

Chief mining official of the Kingdom of Bohemia, Prague mint master and one of the leading experts in mining and metallurgy of the Renaissance period. Author of the influential treatise Book on Assaying. In 1567 he came to Jáchymov, where he became acquainted with the local mining industry.
HANS ELDER WILDT (before 1561 – after 1606)

Bell founder, pewterer and metal craftsman who worked in Jáchymov at the end of the sixteenth century. His works belong among the important craft monuments of the region and can still be found in several towns of north-western Bohemia.
FRANTIŠEK KRÁSENSKÝ SJ (1925–2005)

Jesuit priest who served in Jáchymov for several decades and became one of the most important spiritual figures of the town in the second half of the twentieth century. He played a major role in saving a number of church buildings in Jáchymov and its surroundings.
DOMINIK CARDINAL DUKA OP (1943–2025)

Dominican priest, Archbishop of Prague, Primate of Bohemia and cardinal of the Roman Catholic Church. He was one of the most prominent figures of the Catholic Church in the Czech lands at the turn of the twentieth and twenty-first centuries. At the beginning of his priestly ministry he also served in Jáchymov.
FRANZ WILHELM TIPPMANN (1786–1857)

Catholic priest, theologian and auxiliary bishop of Prague, and an important figure of church and academic life in the first half of the nineteenth century. Born in Jáchymov, he rose during his career to the highest ecclesiastical offices of the Prague archdiocese. He is considered the most prominent church dignitary originating from Jáchymov in the nineteenth century.
JAN URBAN (1921–2003)

Historian, publicist, founder of the municipal newsletter and long-time worker of the Jáchymov museum. Through his research, publications and extensive collections he significantly contributed to the knowledge and popularisation of the history of Jáchymov.
GREGOR LINDNER (1831–1917)

Priest, papal chamberlain, dean of Jáchymov, city chronicler and long-time member of the municipal administration. For more than sixty years he was closely connected with the town and became one of the most important figures in the modern history of Jáchymov.
KARL VIKTOR KNIGHT VON HANSGIRG (1823–1877)

Imperial and Royal civil servant, district governor in Jáchymov and at the same time a poet and writer of German-language literature in the Czech lands. Alongside his administrative career he devoted himself extensively to literary work and belonged to the cultural figures of the nineteenth century.
