FRANZ WILHELM TIPPMANN (1786–1857)

Catholic priest, theologian and auxiliary bishop of Prague, and an important figure of church and academic life in the first half of the nineteenth century. Born in Jáchymov, he rose during his career to the highest ecclesiastical offices of the Prague archdiocese. He is considered the most prominent church dignitary originating from Jáchymov in the nineteenth century.
JAN URBAN (1921–2003)

Historian, publicist, founder of the municipal newsletter and long-time worker of the Jáchymov museum. Through his research, publications and extensive collections he significantly contributed to the knowledge and popularisation of the history of Jáchymov.
GREGOR LINDNER (1831–1917)

Priest, papal chamberlain, dean of Jáchymov, city chronicler and long-time member of the municipal administration. For more than sixty years he was closely connected with the town and became one of the most important figures in the modern history of Jáchymov.
KARL VIKTOR KNIGHT VON HANSGIRG (1823–1877)

Imperial and Royal civil servant, district governor in Jáchymov and at the same time a poet and writer of German-language literature in the Czech lands. Alongside his administrative career he devoted himself extensively to literary work and belonged to the cultural figures of the nineteenth century.
Oldřich Ježek (1931–2020)

Teacher, long-time headmaster of the elementary school in Jáchymov, city chronicler and author of numerous texts on the town’s history. Through his work in education and his activity as a chronicler he contributed significantly to preserving the historical memory of Jáchymov in the second half of the twentieth century.
